Patchwork sleeves.
Micro realism.
Bold blackwork.
Chrome designs.

And while I love seeing tattooing evolve, there’s one thing I always come back to:

Originality.

Trends Introduce You. Originality Keeps You.

Trends are great.

They introduce people to styles they may never have considered before. They inspire artists to experiment and push boundaries.

But trends eventually move on.

Original work doesn’t.

The tattoos people usually love the longest aren’t the ones that were popular on Instagram that year.

They’re the ones that felt personal from the beginning.

Every Artist Has Their Own Way of Seeing

Give ten artists the same idea.

You’ll get ten completely different tattoos.

That’s what makes tattooing exciting.

At Morphology, I don’t want to recreate what’s already been done a thousand times.

I want to understand what you’re drawn to, then create something that feels unique to you.

Maybe it’s inspired by a reference.

Maybe it’s inspired by a conversation.

Maybe it’s inspired by something you couldn’t even explain when you walked into the studio.

That’s where the fun begins.

Original Doesn’t Have to Mean Complicated

There’s a common misconception that custom tattoos have to be large or incredibly detailed.

They don’t.

A single flower.

A clean line.

A small symbol.

Even the simplest tattoo can feel completely original when it’s designed specifically for the person wearing it.

Sometimes originality comes from the smallest decisions.

The Internet Is Inspiration, Not a Catalogue

I encourage people to save references.

Bring Pinterest boards.

Show me Instagram posts.

Collect ideas.

But I always see those images as starting points—not finished answers.

Your tattoo should reflect your personality, not someone else’s.

That’s why I enjoy taking inspiration and turning it into something new rather than copying it exactly.

The Best Part of My Job

One of my favourite moments is when someone sees their design for the first time and says,

“That’s exactly what I had in my head.”

Not because I copied something.

Because together, we created it.

That’s the difference.

Final Thoughts

Tattooing will always evolve.

Styles will change.

Techniques will improve.

New trends will come and go.

But creating something original for another human being—that will never go out of style.
